Valve cover gasket
Hardens with age and heat. Often causes the burning smell when oil drips onto the exhaust manifold.
Oil filter housing gasket
Can leak onto the drive belt. A belt soaked in oil can fail and be pulled into the engine, so this one shouldn’t wait.
Oil pan gasket
Shows as drips under the middle of the engine. On many models it’s a bigger job, so we check the other seals at the same time.
How we handle it: we find the actual source before quoting, since oil runs down and the lowest wet spot is rarely the leak. You get an inspection report with photos and a clear price before any work starts.
